Florida Golf Schools

January 8th, 2008 by admin in Golf School

Florida has always been known for it’s world class golf courses but now it is widely recognized as being a golf school haven. It is one of many states such as Arizona, California, Nevada and South Carolina that offer year round attendance primarily because of their winter climate. There is one school, however, that sets Florida golf schools apart from all the others and its name is Advantage Golf School.

Advantage Golf Schools are located all over the United States with four of them located in the state of Florida. In 2006 this school was rated number one in the U.S. by Golf School Info.com the oldest golf school review site on the internet. There are 16 locations nationwide located
at some of the top resorts in the country. These schools offered the most personalized (one-to-one student/teacher ratio) as well as the most customized learning programs of any the schools reviewed by Golf School Info.com. Advantage’s Florida golf schools are located in Naples, Orlando St. Petersburg and Jacksonville/St. Augustine.

Florida golf schools (as with most others) include just about every golf amenity you can imagine. At Advantage you get daily one-to-one
personalized instructions with a PGA qualified instructor that remains with you throughout your course. Each program last’s from 2 to 5 days. Your day starts with a practice tee session in the morning followed by lunch and a personal nine hole playing lesson with your instructor. Your nightly accommodations are in the resort complex. There are several different programs to choose from costing anywhere from $1,199.00 to $4,499.00 depending on the duration of the course and its location.

If affordable there is no greater golf experience than attending one of these schools. You literally spend all of your time concentrating on improving your game and have the assistance of some of the top instructors in the country. Florida golf schools may be a bit pricey but if you can manage to attend you certainly will not regret it. We all know that our number one priority in golf is self improvement and
this is one way to help achieve that goal. If you can perhaps shave 5 to 10 strokes from your game wouldn’t it be worth it? Attending a top
rated golf school may just help you to do that.

Golf Instruction Schools

December 3rd, 2007 by admin in Golf School

There are two types of golf instruction schools. The first prepares student for management in the golf industry and the second is for learning golf swing fundamentals. Lets discuss them both.

The most notable golf instruction school in the country is the San Diego Golf Academy (SDGA) which is a two year program. It is recognized by the United States Department of Education. The school has the noted distinction of beiq the oldest academy of it’s kind in America having been established in 1974. With five campuses Located in San Diego, CA; Phoenix, AZ; Orlando, FL; Honolulu, HI; and Myrtle Beach, SC. it’s the largest school of it’s kind.

The curriculum provides the student with golf instruction and business management. The program includes the education required to manage an instructional program and a golf facility and to give personal golf instructions. Some of the courses taught at the academy include the following: accounting, business management, business law, writing and verbal communications, sports psychology, food service management, golf facility management, golf course maintenance, club repair, golf course design and golf operations management. If you are contemplating a career in golf this school should be high on your list.

The second type of golf school involves actual golf lessons. These schools are located all over the country mostly in the sun belt areas. The student can take personal lessons with some of the same instructors that work with PGA tour professionals. Butch Harmon was recently seen on the practice tee at the Masters Championship coaching Phil Mickelson. Harmon has coached some of the worlds best players including Tiger Woods.

David Ledbetter, the well known golf instructor who appears weekly on the Golf Channel, has the David Ledbetter Golf Academy where you can take personal instruction from Dave himself. Other schools such as, the Dave Peltz Scoring Academy, Roland Stafford Golf Schools and Advantage Golf School give the student an opportunity to take lessons from some of the world’s best golf instructors.

The tuition for the golf instruction schools is high depending on the location and time involved. The schools last from 3 days to a duration of 1 week and most graduates feel they are well worth the time, effort and money spent.

If you are contemplating a career in golf go to an acclaimed school such as the San Diego Golf Academy, On the other hand, if you just want to improve your golf game, choose one of the above mentioned schools.

However, most of these schools are not meant for the recreational golfer. Anyone that is above a 10 handicap, should look into the PurePoint Golf Academy or a similar school that caters to golfers who are currently above a 10 handicap, and they are really focused on lower golf scores.
