Het Bobby, so here is the question that I emailed you that you asked me to move to here:

I’ve been playing for about 3 months now and have been getting along quite well (I think!), with a few pars and a birdie or two, with lots and lots of triple boogies in between. But today after my usual Tuesday morning 9 hole game, I came away with very sore leading hand (left hand, since I’m right handed) fingers and a small blisters on my index finger’s lower segment, and that’s with a glove. Guys at work made the remark that I grip my club too stiffly, which I do, but only because if I don’t the club face become extremely distorted on the down swing.

So, what is the correct way to hold the club and how tight should I be holding it?

Also, when I address the ball, should my club face always be square on to the ball and facing the direction that I want the ball to travel in?

Thanks!

Adam

The bottom edge of the face MUST be perpendicular to the intended line you want the ball to travel on. #2 you should grip the golf club as thou you were holding a baby's hand. GENTLE...is the golf club turning as the club swings back or is it turning at impact?

You will get used to holding it lighter. The blisters are called GOLF...you are going to be ok.

I think it's turning as I connect with the ball, but I might be wrong. I'll be sure to check next time I'm out having a swing.

Thanks for the club face suggestion, worked wonders this morning :)
