yOu can go to a driving range, that should help you get into practice before you get out on the green.

Well, I'd start with just shooting a bucket of balls at the driving range (which would be at your local golf course) and hitting the balls first! That has been my biggest problem, but if you go with some friends, it's the funnest part! The golf course probably offers a clinic now and then, too. If you get a buddy to go with you, it can be a blast.Good luck! I hope you try it. It's so much fun!

I started playing golf as a twelve-year old. My parents bought me a beginners set of clubs along with the bag, etc.Not knowing how tall you are it is impossible to give you advice on the size of your club but any pro shop can fit you for the right club length. As for playing, stick to the driving range for a while, at least until you develop consistency with your swing and learn what each club is for. Lessons are good if they are within your budget. There are also lots of videos on golf to help with pointers on your swing, etcThe main thing with golf or any activity is practice, practice, practice. Golf can be frustrating for almost anyone, especially for a beginner. Just remember to keep a cool head and not beat up on yourself when things go wrong(And they will).

Start by purchasing a beginners set of clubs with a bag. Nothing fancy... just a simple set that you can start with. Then PLEASE don't try to teach yourself... go to the golf course where you would go to hit balls and talk to the PGA Professonial there and start lessons. Try once a week. That is what I started doing when I was 11 and I am now 14... I still take the lessons once a week and during the summer I do twice a week. Practice inbetween each lesson or else... it won't be worth it at all.Since you said you are serious... you really should get lessons so that you can learn everything correctly. Because if you start just going out and hitting balls or having a parent teach you... then along the line you will get angry because the ball isn't going where you want it too and you will want to start lessons and you will have to re-learn your swing completly. And if a parent tries to teach you... they are going to teach you their swing... where as a PGA Professional.. has been taught how to teach a golfer their own swing. That is probably the best thing you can do! I love golf and lessons have helped me more than anything!!!!Good Luck and I hope you enjoy golf!!!
