Please elaborate on the difference between the iron and driver swings

i just watched the full swing video that i purchased. In the section on <a href=http://www.purepointgolf.com/instruction-golf-swing-downswing>downswing</a> it is mentioned that there is a difference between an iron and a driver. However, there is no further discussion or information. Please elaborate or send a link to clarify. thank you Sam

The irons are shorter, so you stand a little closer and the club swings UP more. The woods are longer and they need to swing around you more, that is why you stand a little bit further from the ball.

Can you tell me how I should stand closer or further from the ball? For a driver now I place my arms on top of my chest, and for irons I leave them more on the side of my chest. Is this correct?

The posture should be the same, you JUST stand sort of 10-12 inches closer with a wedge than a driver. You do not have to change your hands.

The toughest transition in swing plane I find is with the fairway metals (woods)...toughest to tame being the 3 wood. I worked this out at the practice range, and found a backswing groove that felt easy while standing tall at the ball, and resisting crouching down at it due to the shorter shaft. Same applies for the 5, 7 and 9 woods I use. I did not try to figure the swing angle, but just let the backswing happen, standing tall while keeping the left arm straight and lower frame anchored on a steady right leg. My tendency to slice all those clubs is history.

Way to go Louis, for 30 years I have tried to get my students to understand that the name of the game is 13 clubs and 1 golf swing.
