Yikes ! shanking wedges, what a mess.

Hi Bobby,

Could you teach me how to completely eliminate those griching shanks on

my wedges, either 52, 56 or 60 degrees? Note, that I experience that occasionally. It`s not

regular. I shank with my wedges once and awhile but it gets to me every time.

It seldom happens with my other irons or never with my woods.

Are the divots going to the left or right?

The divots are going right most of the time but occasionally some go left, maybe one out of twenty. But please keep in mind that in my case, shanks invade my wedge strokes on rare occasions.

I am a little confused. Do you shank your full swing shots or your wedges.

Rare occasions is not very oftened.

Sorry for the confusion, i struggle on occasion in shanking the golf ball with my wedges, either a52,56 or a60 deg. on a full swing. This occurs on probably once inside of 20 shots. It's not constant. It could be possible that without noticing, my hands pass in front of the ball at <a href=http://www.purepointgolf.com/instruction-golf-swing-impact>impact</a> and thus having it bouce from the head of the club to the hossel of the shaft then a swift blast to the right. What do you think ?

If the divots are going right that is exactly what you are doing. Soften your grip and let the right hand role in the downswing.

I also have the occasional shank when I am not playing a full shot for example when I am using a pitching wedge just off the green. By a process of elimination I think my problem was lifting my head. By concentrating on not moving my head and looking at the club hitting the back of the ball I seem to have got rid of the problem.
Could this have been the cause?
