Should you take a divot with your irons - particularly short irons? If so what should you work on to do this correctly?

Yes you should take a divot. Remember this- everyone is different. My divots are deeper than most and that does not make it right or wrong.
In the 80's I played with one of the greatest iron players of all times and he didn't take two blades of grass with his irons. Why do you want to know about divots are you hitting the ball thin or are you just asking? Bobby Last edited by Bobby_Eldridge; 08-25-2008 at 10:34 AM. |

FWIW I take a very small divot, can't get the hang of taking a normal divot.

Hit some balls from a downhill lie and you won't believe what it will do for the angle of the downswing.
