Hitting It Fat From 50 Yards

The public course I play at has fairways where the grass is cut very low - not much higher than a putting green. Lately, I've been hitting it fat off what seems to be this tight lie - because it is a finesse shot, I'm afraid of hitting it too far.
Other courses that have a little more grass under the ball make it much easier for me to make contact. How do you hit this half wedge of this tight lie?

In winter, the fairways at our course become very tight. The greens are small and protected by bunkers. I'm having trouble with pitching off the tight lies. Any suggestions?
