Hi, this is my first time here. My husband is 53 and has played golf for 30 years. His handicap was about 8 until recently. One thing is his left shoulder started bothering him. Here's his problem. He's ok on chip shots. But when he wants to hit longer, he's been hitting the ball and it goes on an angle. I asked him if the ball is hitting directly in the middle of the clubface and he said yes, but he thinks it's rolling off towards the right. What can he be doing wrong? Thanks.
Are you telling me he hits his pitch shots on an angle to the right? Is that correct?

Yes. It doesn't arc.
Do you think he is hitting the ball on the face, the shank or the toe? This is VERY important.

I'll ask him. Thanks.
He says he's shanking it. He isn't making divets. The ball is too far forward in his stance, almost a foot. He has the clubface open and he says he has a strong grip. He is doing a lift instead of hitting down and through with irons. I hope I worded this right. He tried to explain to me how he hits the ball. He only played 14 holes today and gave up. He's done that a lot recently. I appreciate your help.
Dear Bobswife333:
Let's see if I can help.
#1 Place the ball in the middle of his stance
#2 Make sure he has 75% of his weight on his LEFT side at address and during the backswing
#3 Follow through low
Get back to me and let me know if this helped.

He's doing all that. He thinks it may be a confidence factor. Thanks for your help. I'll get back to you if he has more he wants to know.
I have 50 videos on You Tube, have you seen them? There are 6-8 on pitching.
