    Default Back spin on greens

The thing I need to do is learn how to spin the ball when I need to. I need to know how & where to come down on the ball with an illustration would be greatly appreciative. I think it has a lot to do with angle of the clubface when it makes contact with the ball. Please help with this.

Spinning the ball around the green is not hard to do. It has a lot to do with the type of ball you use. Some will spin lots (Titleist Pro vs, Callaway tours, taylormade black & red) others won't. I play the ball back in my stance and pinch the ball off the turf. You need a steep angle of attack and ball first contact. Don't decelerate through the shot. You need to be accelerating through the ball to get the most spin.

Ok. Is not the arrow is the indian. Fully hinge your wedge on the backswing. Hold that hinge and try to deliver it thru the ball with your right side... It's like throwing a softball underarm pitch. Try that. Will see that ball jump back with a 56 wedge.

There are a few things that you have to consider first. If your fairways are long, greens are slow or dry-it is very difficult to spin the ball.

Forged irons and soft balls also help.

You can spin a ball on a steep or shallow angle. A couple of things to keep in mind is that the club face has to remain open at impact.

If the toe catches up with the heel on a steep angle it will impart top spin.

Hold on with the left hand and you will have more of a backspin than top spin.

Let me know if this helped.
