Default Pitching from tight wet lies

    Hi Bobby,
I'm new to your forum. I have a problem I would like some help with.

Here is the situation. I have come up short of the green, it is a tight lie, and sometimes soggy from the sprinklers. I have to fly (pitch) the ball 20 to 30 yards to get it on the green.

I have been trying to use my 60*/6* bounce, my tendency with this shot is to hit it fat and come up short 9 times out of 10.

I know that I can chip the ball from here under different circumstances, but I get into trouble when I have to pitch over something from this kind of lie.

Now I think its in my head, and it happens way too often. What can you suggest?

I am going to guess you hit it fat from the steep side...If you hit it fat from the shallow side, let me know.

I want you to have your weight evenly distributed on both feet. I want you to lift your chin up an inch or two more than normal.

When you are finished with the shot I want you to tap your left toe in the ground-3 times.

In other words I don't think you are turning through in the downswing and this drill will make you turn the left side out of the way and follow through without digging the turf.

Let me know if it helped.

    Hi Bobby,
    Thanks for the tip.
I did go to the range yesterday and tried practising what you said. Lifting my chin up and standing a little taller seemed the help. I tried to find the tightest lie I could to practice this but the ground was hard as rock there. So the conditions weren't quite the same.
The part about tapping my toe 3 times I couldn't get. (can't dance too well either)
