Hi Bobby--

Now that I'm a whole lot better educated about the full swing, videotaping myself turned out to be really illuminating! But the problem is, is that there are too many problems! What my mind's eye thought I was doing and what I'm actually doing were completely different. I'm fine with the 9 o'clock position. Fine with the left arm straight and with reminding myself on every swing, I'm better at keeping the right shoulder back longer. The trouble is I also have to pay attention to my hips swaying both left and right, and I dip my head on the downswing. So all this quickly undoes the other movements I'm pretty sure I'm doing correctly. The outcome of all this is that the ball trajectory is usually straight, but with poor distance. As hard as I try to focus on twisting hy hips rather than swaying, not much seems to be improving. Of course, when I 'try' to hit the ball harder, all of the errors become more exaggerated and then the trajectory is all over the place.

I practice on a large athletic field and have lots of time to practice. It's kind of sad with all my motivation and time, that I haven't found a way to improve. From watching the videotapes, I'm pretty certain that I'm accurately portraying my swing.

The weather here in the Northeast has so far stayed tolerably warm, so it's still possible to practice outdoors.

Thanks Bobby.

Doug

Oh-- the issues I describe are the same for all clubs.
