When I tee the ball with my driver, I usually play it around my left heel (I am a right handed golfer). By doing this if I bring the driver to the ball prior to my swing it opens my shoulder to the target line and leads to me swinging across the ball and cutting it. A temporary fix for me has been to drop my right foot back so that my stance is now closed to the target line but my shoulders now are parallel. What is the fix for this?
Thanks
When you address the golf ball with your driver across from your left heel, your shoulders open up to the left. That is a very common mistake.
The driver was designed to be played off of your left heel. All you have to do is square your shoulders, you do not have to close your stance.
Place two straight edges on the ground, one for the target line and one for your feet, knees, hips and shoulders. Now all you have to do is address the golf ball.
Many amateurs feel as thou they have to open the left shoulder to make this happen-you don't, I don't, Jack Nicklaus doesn't have to either. Try it.
