Hi
I was just watching some golf action on TV and was wondering hwo on earth do you start practicing that 'PGA Spin'? You know, that type of spin that can stop a ball dead in its tracks as it hits the green?
Thanks a lot!
Adam
This is one of my all time favorites to talk about. I am going to give you 5 things to think about and then I am going to give you a tip on how to get your ball to slow down.
#1 The tour players play with a softer golf ball than most of us. They do not play with solid golf balls. More back spin.
#2 They play with wedges that are also softer than the ones we play with. The metal in forged clubs is too hard to spin the ball.
#3 They play from fairways that are mowed closer than our fairways. No grass between the ball and club face, more spin.
#4 They generate a little more clubhead speed than we do, more backspin.
Now, here is the test. Put a pencil and paper next to the tv and everytime you see a ball back up write down if it was a better shot before or after it backed up. They don't always want the ball to back up.
Here is your tip. Ball in the center of your stance, 70% of your weight on your left leg and swing your arms up/down, no weight transfer in backswing.
Lastly, follow thru low.
and, THEY ARE REALLY GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO!!!!!
Let me know if this helped.
Thanks Bobby I'll check it out as soon as the weather clears from sub zeros here![]()
