    I find sometimes when chipping that I skull the ball--what's the reason

    Harman,
    There are several things that could cause skulled chips. Typically, it will help to get your weight left at address and try to minimize any wrist action at impact. So set up with more weight on your left side and make sure that the shaft is leaning towards the target at impact. This will help you get the descending angle of attack necessary for crisp chip shots.
