This may have been already discussed, but when does the left hip turn during the downswing? Is there any type of thought process to think about during the downswing to help initiate this?
If you are hooking the ball, the left hip should start earlier in the downswing than if you are slicing. If you turn the left hip out of the way as soon as you start the downswing, the clubface will return slightly open.
Hit some balls with starting the left hip early and see how you do.

Perhaps I'm not too smart, but I don't understand your answer.
First you say that hookers turn the left hip early in the downswing. And then you say if one turns the left hip as soon as possible it will leave the clubface open. Why then the hook? An open clubface produces a slice, not a hook - or?
