Default Bunker Shots - Hitting it High

    Bobby,

Hi. I just ordered the Bunker DVD this morning and, of course, I haven't
received it yet. I did, however, download the written narrative (20 pages)
and have read it. Very informative information. I've already learned a
    great deal.

I was disappointed to learn that you do NOT cover escaping from "deep"
    bunkers.

Allow me to explain: I'm a 20-handicapper, serious golfer, who plays 2-3
times per week when possible. Where I play golf we have numerous bunkers
that are literally 6-8 feet deep. They're caverns!

They're so deep, that often times when my ball lands in them, I cannot see
the flag stick, the green or anything but the sky and at 5' 11" tall you
might think I'm exagerating about they're depth.

I often make solid contact but have difficulty getting my ball high enough,
quickly enough to escape the bunker. Hence, I waste too many shots!

Yesterday I was in a bunker that is 7 feet deep. It took me 3 shots to get
out because my shots were not high enough. On the first two shots my ball
impacted 12" below the lip and even on the final shot when I did escape....I
barely escaped and only made it to the green's fringe.

Can you offer me a bit of insight here as to how I can consistently get the
ball going very high very quickly from a deep bunker? Please?

    Thanks, Bobby.

If you are faced with a 7 foot bunker shot and you can not see the flag, you will have to go out sideways or backswards.

If you open the face as far as you can and swing as hard as you can and it does not pop out, you have no other choice.

The most important thing in playing this shot is making good contact between the club and the ball. Here's how you do it ... play the ball back in your stance as this will produce a steeper angle of attack at the ball which will give you a better chance to hit the ball cleanly
