Thread: Wedge Play

    Default Wedge Play

Bobby - I am a 3 hncp and hit everything but my sand and lob wedges consistently. I hit about 150 balls last night and almost every 2 out of 3 wedges was hit fat or thin. My swing has improved greatly from your DVDs in all areas except the wedge game. I try not to do anything different, but maybe I need to. I can literally chunk or thin 3-4 wedges (especially sand wedge) and then hit a perfect 6 iron, 4 iron, hybrid, 3 wood and driver right after the bad wedges. I do play in AZ so the conditions are firm and my SW has 13* of bounce - I tried to get it taken down to about 8* bout the shops I went to would not touch my forged wedges.

This is very frustrating because I hit 9-12 fwys and 10-12 greens per round and take 30 or less putts on average. My full wedge game is killing me. I hit short pitch shots and bunker shots pretty good with my SW and LW - should I go to a lower bounce wedge like my GW and PW (6*)? Or is it just my swing?

I tend to be a sweeper with all clubs and I know this is not good for wedges.

    Also, I am Left Handed.

I cannot figure out how my swing changes but it does.

    Any help?

Go hit 200 balls (not in one session) from a DOWNHILL LIE, not ball below your feet lie. It does not have to be more than 3-5 degrees. It does not have to be real steep.

    Let me know what happens.

When Jack Nicklaus turned 50 and headed for the Senior Tour he was quoted as saying he had the short game of a 19 handicaper.

He hit the ball so well his whole career that he did not have to depend on his short game to get him around.
