At our golf course, Lost Creek Country Club, Austin, Texas, the sand in the traps is different on the two sides. On the front side, the sand is heavy, and the ball comes out of the trap and lands just onto the green. On the back side, the sand is light and fluffy, and the sand shot either stays in the trap or flies the green. How do you make the adjustment from one type of sand to the other in the same round of golf?
Don't give me the usual answer of, "Don't hit it in the sand trap"!
It sounds like you have to be steep on the front 9 and a little less steep on the back 9.
It also sounds as thou the back 9 sand is fluffy. And lastly it sounds as thou you like the front 9 and you are not as succesful on the back 9.
Do I have all of my sounds correct?
Does you bunker club have no bounce on it? If your sand wedge does not have any bounce on it you will dig on the back 9.
Lastly, don't change the front 9 method but once you get to the back 9 I want you to try two things.
#1 Move 20% of your weight from the front foot to the back foot.
#2 Make sure you TURN THRU in the downswing.
#3 Get back with me on the results.
Thanks,
Bobby
