Switch from left to right handed golf

Hi Dave,

I am an ambidextrous person. As a kid, I was a switch-hitter in baseball, but always felt more comfortable hitting left handed. So when I took up golf, I naturally played left handed. However, when I throw a baseball or football, shoot a basketball, bowl, shoot a gun or shoot a bow and arrow I do them all right handed. I am also right eye dominant.

Some golf books I have read suggest that the golf swing involves a throwing motion; the idea being that the golfer "throws" the club head into the back of the ball, or "pitches" the ball in an underhand type motion for chip and pitch shots.

I have been golfing left-handed for about 10 years now (I am 45 years old) and can generate decent power and accuracy, albeit inconsistently. I have recently dabbled with turning around right-handed, but it feels a bit awkward of course.

Based on the fact that I feel more comfortable swinging left handed, but I throw right handed, and I'm right eye dominant do you think it would be wise for me to make a serious attempt to golf right handed? I have a feeling I would be able to generate more power and consistency based on my initial attempts (pitching wedge only) golfing from the right side.
