Chipping Follow Through

Let's talk in more detail about Part Ten-Low Follow Through.

After the golf club digs into the ground, the speed of the golf club wants to continue on towards the finish. The finish in chipping is a low follow thru. We do not want you to stop the clubhead after impact; however, we want the clubhead to continue on low to the ground.(#27)

You do not want to stop the clubhead at impact, and you do not want to have a full follow through such as that of the full swing.(#28)

Chipping - Focus on the Low Follow Through

It is very important for you to understand the mechanics behind this mistake. You will be able to fix your own mistake with this knowledge.

When the club is coming down at such a steep angle it is very difficult to bring the club back up. Instead it is much easier to have a low follow through along the ground.

Swing the club low to the ground just after impact for a foot or two. Do not try to lift the ball off the ground.
