Putter Stays Low to the Ground

If the clubface is not square it will either be open or closed. Of course, such is life, there are two ways the face can be open and there are two ways the face can be closed.
If you swing the clubface from inside to outside the clubface will be open at impact and after impact. If you roll the face open in the downswing the face will be open at impact and right after impact.
If you swing the clubface from outside to inside the clubface will be closed at impact and after impact. If you roll the face closed in the downswing the face will be closed at impact and right after impact.
What you are trying to do is have the clubface return square at impact and as the follow through continues you want to make sure you keep the clubface square and low to the ground.
As the clubface makes contact with the golf ball, the putter face must be square to insure you start the golf ball on the line you intend it to travel on.
There are a couple of ways to practice to assure yourself the putter face is square.
The other way to check the clubface is to make a stroke towards a full length mirror (without a ball) after the follow through pause and look into the mirror and see if the face is looking towards the mirror.
This is one of the best kept secrets that nobody pays attention to.

I promise you we have come to the end of the putting stroke. And of course this part is very important.

As the clubface swings back to the golf ball in the downswing the face has to be square. When you are on the practice green you can take a straight edge (golf club) and make a stroke, after the stroke pause and look at the clubface in relation to the straight edge on the ground.
