RE: ball position
QUESTION:
Bobby. You and Dave seem to have a little difference about ball position. Dave says ball in the middle of the stance. If I read you right in the driver DVD, you favor placing the ball forward. I seem to fly the ball better if I place it forward. Your thoughts? I am soon to be seventy and I just started playing last year. I have more time now and love the game. 75 by 75. Paul’
Asked by Paul Melvin on 2007-02-25 13:30:00
ANSWER:
Thanks for your e-mail…When you start out, the middle is a great place. However, you can start experimenting around to see exactly where it should be for YOU…Forward for you sounds correct. Go with it.

RE: Lesson 4 and 5 from David Nevogt
QUESTION:
Hi David,
Thank you for lessons 4 & 5. I went to the driving range for the first time yesterday since receiving all the documentation about the "Simple Golf Swing" from you, and although I learned a few things about the swing from your ebook, I still struggled with different clubs.
First with chipping, I did ok, but it could have been better. With the 8 and 9 irons off the grass, I wasn't able to get much distance, maybe 70 yards. I was aiming for 100. Then I switched to a 5 iron using a tee, and I did so with the same distance problem. I was able to make good contact at times, but I wasn't able to keep the ball low. I don't know how to put strength and power into my swing. I'm not getting the distance, and my follow through is not complete. Maybe my arms are going faster than my body, I don't know.
Next, I used my new driver. On a high tee, (3 inched off the ground), I wasn't exactly able to keep the ball straight, and again, I wasn't comfortable with my swing. I tried to keep my elbows against my body (the towel), but I wasn't swinging hard enough to keep the ball straight. I'm sure the rotation of my hips was fine. Maybe my arms went to far back, I'm not sure. One thing for sure, I take my eyes off the ball too soon, but I'm positive there's more to it than that. My new driver has a 10 degree club face, and when I hit the ball, it looked like I was hitting a fly ball in center field, instead of a line drive. Why? Any tips you can provide me with my problems would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

RE: Rotating Your hands Through the Ball
QUESTION:
David Thanks for the information. I am 72 years old with 2 artificial hips and a further handicap of 20. Your DVD and notes have really helped my game of golf. I am more confident and drive straighter and a little longer. My main difficulties are 1. Transferring of weight to right leg (I am left handed) 2. Difficulty in choosing the right iron club for different distances (Any tips to resolve these).I was second in a 'minor scratch cup' recently with a net score of 70. My wife also plays gold and is studying your advice daily. I am sure our neighbors are beginning to worry about us??

RE: Chicago Golf Academy Released
QUESTION:
David,
I purchased your simple swing e book months and months ago, read through it and then tried to use it on the course. This resulted in every ball hooking badly, I promptly thought that this was another gimmick to fool us golfers and get us to pay out more money. (I also thought the swing looked very strange)
Since then my golf has been up and down, one day I can shoot a 76, and the next it could be an 86 or even 96. I am a 7 handicap golfer and am desperate to find some consistency, so after another poor loss in the club scratch singles (after loosing 8 and 7) I got the e-book out again and read through it, then went to the range to try and ingrain the mechanics. To my surprise I managed to shoot a gross 80 which is only 2 over my handicap, and I also hit a few duff chips along the way.
I am going to persevere with your system now, and hopefully my golf will continue to improve. One thing that I would like some advice on is,
1, Some of my shots either go straight right especially the driver (approx 20yds off target) or hook excessively (mainly irons).
2, My ball flight is not consistent, sometimes quite low.
Do you have any idea what I may be doing wrong???
Kind regards,
Dave
Asked by DAVID SINGER on 2006-07-31 13:16:00

Thanks for your e-mail…on the pushed drives, you are not turning thru…make sure you clear your left hip at impact. In regards to the low flight, make sure you stand an inch closer to the ball and see if this helps. Let me know right away.

RE: Driver
QUESTION:
Dear Bobby,
First of all a happy and prosperous new year to you all at PurePoint Golf.
Why do golfers still consult professionals when your services are available?
I have so far looked at the driver and short game DVDs and have already started practicing in the backyard our country is so wet most golf clubs are like paddy fields.
I have one problem in that I have a severely weakened right knee damaged at rugby our game with the oval ball but without the protection. My right knee is slightly bent and does not have the strength one would normally have. On the iron shots 8 iron plus when my weight can be on my left leg I do not normally have a problem with consistent striking but your advice would be welcome with long iron and wood shots when I am normally expected to have more weight on the right leg especially on the backswing.
Once again my thanks.
Kindest regards,
David

RE: alignment
QUESTION:
The DVD has improved all other aspects of my game, but the driver still fails me, alignment troubles with driver.
When I address the tee I can not seem to align myself so I do not have my hands in front of the ball, like you would if you had a wedge in your hands.
How do you correct something like this? All other clubs I have no trouble with alignment ball position. What drills are there to correct this?

QUESTION:
Hi Bobby. I didn't know if eventually you receive an email where I've asked for your advice about what kind of wedges (Sand and lob wedges) could you recommend me? I did remember I tried with the one you have, and I felt very comfortable with it. so I'd like to know your opinion in that way, I've been using the ones included in the set of my clubs Ping G5 , but as I know usually most player low handicapper have in their bags a set of clubs but wedges are difference ,..so I'd like to know your advice in this matter. Brand, loft , bound...etc.. especially because you know what's my golf style and level.

RE: driver problems
QUESTION:
Hello Kyle,
Received your DVD last week and just want to clarify a couple of points please.
1) There is no mention of ball positioning. Do you suggest that all irons are played from the mid point in the stance ?
2) After a few practice sessions I cannot get the driver to function properly although it was better last night after changing to the interlock grip as you suggested on the DVD. Where do I position the ball ? The driver now seems underpowered and seem to either get a block to the right or a snap hook left and the straight ones are weak.
The irons are coming along well, can't believe how straight they go so it should be interesting to take it to the course this weekend. Being on a low handicap it is important that I get the ball off the tee so help on the driver would be appreciated.
I put my brother in Wales onto your site and he bought your DVD last week so we hope to compare our progress by phone occasionally.

RE: Driving
QUESTION:
Dear Bobby,
I have received the Golf Swing DVD and have just ordered the short game DVD. I play off 21 and I must confess my wife and I are really enjoying our golf since following your DVD. However I notice of late that in my driving the ball travels outwards in a straight line but the veers to the right and may come to rest 20 yards off the fairway. This does not happen with all drives but when it does happen it is always the same i.e. to the right. I might add I am a left hand player. Please let me know how I might remedy this failing.
Thanks for your instructions

RE: New Golf Tips Just Released
QUESTION:
Dear David,
Wow! This release is awesome.
Please advise on one important aspect of hitting a driver; I swing my driver at an average speed of 90 mph (with 6 iron my speed was tested at 98 mph). As you can see I swing the "Driver" a lot easier than my "graphite shaft irons". Is that why I only manage 235 - 250 yards on average with the Driver? I do keep my arms relaxed at address, during take off and all the way till I reach the top of my back swing. From there onwards, I try to bring the club down with a gradual increase in speed and continue it till I fully complete the swing. I am hitting roughly 70% of the fairways with the Driver. What should be the grip pressure at address and should it stay the same throughout the swing?
Best regards

RE: level shoulder turn
QUESTION:
Hi David
I've read this a few times, shoulder turn that stays level and parallel to the ground. Did some searches that also say the same thing, but alas like many other terms in golf instruction I am totally confused on how one could swing a golf club keeping a line through the shoulders(that's what I'm assuming) parallel to the ground. The only way it would be possible would be standing upright hitting a ball at chest level? It would appear that it means something else but has been picked up as jargon by many golf pros to describe whatever problem they are talking about?
Is there something I'm missing here.
Andrew
Asked by leosira on 2006-12-11 17:17:00
ANSWER:
Thanks for your e-mail. Let me try it another way...the driver is the longest club in the bag, this is the swing that comes the closest to keeping your shoulders level to the ground...Your interpretation is correct. The lob wedge is the shortest club, hence, you stand closer to the ball and the club swings up and down, THE SHOULDERS ARE NOT AS LEVEL WITH THIS SWING...you can not swing your shoulders level to the ground even with the driver. However, yes, it is golf lingo....

QUESTION:
Hello David
What do you consider to be the best (and most forgiving) driver on the market today? Any recommendations?
I hear that Callaway are unveiling their new Driver next month (Callaway Golf FT-i (with new 460cc Complete Inertial Design)). Also Nike has a new SasQuatch SUMO2 driver with MOI of 5300.
I have always been a fan of Callaway but am willing to explore other clubs.
Your thoughts please.

RE: PurePoint Golf Putting Swing Theory
QUESTION:
Bobby, I was just reviewing the Long game series: Consistency off the Tee and I have a question. Can you or Kyle tell me more about the open and closed stance? More specifically, do you move the front or back foot, or both to make this adjustment. Your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Robert Stevenson
Asked by rob-stevenson on 2006-11-30 10:16:00
ANSWER:
The closed stance encourages a draw or hook, moving the right foot back two or three inches after you have addressed the golf ball will allow the club to travel a bit more from the inside….an open stance, feet aiming left of target encourages a fade or slice. Moving the left foot left after address will allow this to happen….the stance is not the only part of the golf swing that encourages spin on the ball.

RE: shank
QUESTION:
Hi Bobby,
I still enjoy your tips and DVD´s. I think they are verry usefull to me.
I would like to ask your help in one of the problems I am facing during training.
When I´m on the driving range I mostly start swinging with the 9 , 7, 5, woods en finish with the Driver. (By the way I almost got rid of my slice completely , thanks to your DVD).
Most of the time I end my practice with the wedges ,playing about 50 balls to the pin at 30-50 meters. And then it happens: The first 10-20 bals I manage to get them within 1-2 meters from the pin. And all of a sudden I start to shank the ball.
When I continue with the short irons I keep shanking , so I better go home frustrated. When I change to a few full swings with the 9 iron , the prisision returns and I can play a few chips with my wedge again till I start shanking again.
Can you explain what is happening and what I can do to prevent this
Thanks (and have a nice day)
